The Houston Astroshad a 3-1 lead entering the bottom of the ninth inning against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night. Bryan Abreu had a blown save for Houston and Toronto scored two runs in the ninth inning.

Toronto won the game over Houston 4-3 in 10 innings. With the win the Blue Jays improve to 83-61 and the Astros dropped to 78-67. Another reason why the Astros lost to the Blue Jays was because of Jose Altuve's struggles. He was 1-for-5 in the game.

Houston Astros Fans Fed Up With Jose Altuve's Struggles

Over the last seven games for the Astros, Altuve has not had a home run or an RBI. Houston has a 2-5 record in those games. If Altuve does not get it going soon, there is a chance that Houston is in potential danger of losing the AL West division.

The Astros only have a one-game lead over the Seattle Mariners and only lead the Texas Rangers by 2.5 games as well. Houston is not a lock to make it to the playoffs in 2025. Astros fans are fed up with the way Altuve has been playing lately.

Altuve is 35 years old and maybe his latest cold stretch is a sign of him potentially slowing down. In 140 games played this season with Houston, he has a .263 batting average with 24 home runs and 69 RBIs, along with nine stolen bases and six caught stolen base attempts. His on-base percentage is .327.

For Astros fans who want Altuve to retire, he has four more years remaining on his current contract. There is not a chance that he is going to retire after the 2025 MLB season. Altuve is going to have to get out of his slump and produce if the Astros want to make the playoffs. If Houston were to miss the playoffs entirely, it would come as a major surprise.

After the Astros face the Blue Jays and the Atlanta Braves, Houston also has to face Seattle and Texas one more time this season. The final four series of the season will decide if the Astros will make it to the playoffs or not and a lot of this rides on Altuve's shoulders.
