Jose Altuve is without a doubt getting a spot in Cooperstown whenever he hangs up the cleats.

The two-time World Series champion and 2017 AL MVP has been the heart and soul of the Astros pretty much ever since he debuted with the Space City team back in 2011.

But when the team moved him from second base to left field at the beginning of the 2025 season, they knew that a risk was being taken, and the legend hasn't exactly lived up to expectations.

Altuve's Defensive Blunders Continue

Statistically, Altuve is one of the worst defenders in the game right now. According to Fielding Bible, he has -13 defensive runs saved.

Yes, you read that right, negative 13.

And when he's compared to the rest of the outfielders on the team such as Jake Meyers and Jesus Sanchez, it's kind of embarrassing.

Sanchez has only been with the team for about a month after being acquired from the Miami Marlins in the trade deadline, and his eight defensive runs saved are a massive upgrade from Altuve's -13.

Same with Jake Meyers, who despite a current leg injury, is still showing a higher defensive prowess than the nine-time MLB All-Star.

And with Yordan Alvarez finally back in the Astros' lineup, he and his fellow star counterpart may have to swap DH and left field roles before long.
