For a Detroit Tigers team that is in need of arms on the mound, the team is likely about to get a veteran hurler back on their team.
Tigers pitcher Alex Cobb, who has been sidelined for all of 2025 with a right hip injury, has resumed his rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo, allowing no runs to cross Tuesday while giving up a hit and allowing three walks, according to a report by CBS Sports.
Cobb signed a one-year, $15 million contract with the team in December 2024, and was moved to the 60-day disabled list in May 2025 due to his hip issue.
Cobb is a Former All-Star with the Giants
Before coming to Motor City, Cobb spent a trio of seasons in The Bay with the San Francisco Giants, being named to the 2023 MLB All-Star Game as part of a year that saw Cobb go 7-7 with a 3.87 ERA and 131 strikeouts.
Cobb is most notably known for his tenure with the Tampa Bay Rays, spending seven years with the team, though he only played in six after undergoing Tommy John surgery in the 2015 season.
Cobb also spent three years with the Baltimore Orioles and spent the 2021 season with the Los Angeles Angels.
To this point in his career, Cobb holds a 79-76 win-loss record, a 3.84 earned run average, and 1,108 strikeouts.
