Since making his major league debut in June of 2025, former MLB top prospect, Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony, has proved to the fans just why he was so high in the MLB Pipeline rankings during his rise through the minor leagues, posting a .292 batting average with eight home runs and 32 runs batted in.
Unfortunately for the talented rookie, a left oblique strain has brought his impressive first year to a screeching halt after going on the injured list at the beginning of September.
As of now, it seems as though the young rising star could miss the entirely of the postseason, and according to Boston's chief baseball officer Craig Breslow, nothing seems to have changed with that diagnosis.
Anthony Has a Long Road to Recovery
“This is an injury that we knew is going to take some time to heal and for him to get back on the field,” Breslow told Boston Globe’s Tim Healey. “He and the medical staff are working as hard as they can to accelerate the timeline to the extent possible."
Breslow was able to add some optimism to the situation, saying that the overall pain is gone in Anthony in terms of the injury, but he still had many steps to take in terms of recovery from the injury.
Being around him a little bit, you can see he’s getting more comfortable. When it first happened, you could look at him and tell that he was in quite a bit of discomfort and pain. That has subsided. But there’s still quite a bit of room to get to in terms of baseball activity.”
