Lazzat and Inisherin were for a memorable showdown in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.
Wathnan Racing enjoyed a fine week at Royal Ascot and Lazzat had a chance of caping it in style in the Group One six-furlong dash.
Inisherin had distance form having won the Commonwealth Cup 12 months ago. The Kevin Ryan-trained sprinter travelled south with high hopes after an impressive triumph at the Duke of York Stakes.
The race has an international flavour, with Japan's Satono Reve the narrow bookmakers' favourite, while Aidan O'Brien's Australian import Storm Boy is also in contention.
Who won the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot 2025?
Lazzat produced a thrilling front-running performance to pip favourite Satono Reve to glory in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.
A maiden win for France in this feature event was immediately on the cards as Lazzat, underneath James Doyle, was out first.
What an INCREDIBLE battle!

Lazzat holds off Satono Reve to win the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at #RoyalAscot…

Satano Reve was the only competitor to stay realistically in touch and a two-horse race was in progress by the time they passed halfway.
The gap closed as the finish line approached but Lazzat held on and was clearly still full of energy afterwards, throwing Doyle to the turf and trotting off back down the track. The jockey was unharmed and saw the funny side.
It meant confirmation of the victory was delayed as Doyle could only weigh in with his saddle once the loose winner had been retrieved. Lazzat was the rider's second winner of the day after Humidity in the Chesham Stakes, and Doyle dusted himself down to later finish third aboard Best Secret in the Golden Gates Stakes.
Flora of Bermuda completed the top three in the Queen Elizabeth II, while it was a disappointing outing for Inisherin, who never really got into the race and finished down in seventh.
