Matt Fitzpatrick turned professional in 2014. After initially planning to play for Northwestern University for his college career, he ended up leaving after the first quarter to focus on going pro. 

He has mainly competed on the European and PGA Tours, and previously participated in the Challenge Tour. Fitzpatrick won his first golf major in 2022. His 6-under at the 2022 U.S. Open was enough to beat out Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris by one stroke. As of July 2025, the English golfer has 10 professional wins and is becoming more of a household name with consistent performances in the golf majors.
