Max Verstappen admits there's a "50-50" chance he could win this year's driver's title, extending his run to five championships in a row.
After a less-than-ideal start to the season, things have begun to pick up for Verstappen. He picked up two wins in Monza and Azerbaijan, alongside a handful of podium finishes.
That's put him back in contention for the title, applying more pressure to McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
The Australian driver currently leads by 22 points to Norris, with Verstappen 63 points adrift.
"50-50, you either win it or you don't," Verstappen said, speaking ahead of the United States Grand Prix.
"I don't think about it. This car is different to the previous one so no guarantee it works everywhere. I just try to take it race by race."
The Dutch driver's recent run of results can give him, Red Bull and the fans hope, and Verstappen is optimistic about a win in Austin.
"We'll try for sure. The last three weekends have bene very nice. I still think in Singapore we didn't maximise the potential of the car. This is a great track to drive, and I'm curious to see what we can do."
