Wolves captain Nelson Semedo has confirmed he will leave the club on a free transfer after opting not to renew his contract.
The full-back’s contract expired at the end of last season, though Wolves reportedly tried to keep him on board with an improved four-year deal that would have seen him become one of the club’s top earners.
Semedo played a key role for Wolves last season in their bid to avoid relegation, stepping up as captain after Mario Lemina was dismissed in the middle of the season and leading them to a 16th-place finish in the Premier League.
The 31-year-old joined Wolves from Barcelona in 2020 for £27 million and Wolves fans will undoubtedly be disappointed at his exit as he had become something of a fan favourite across his five years at Molineux.
He leaves having registered 182 appearances for Wolves, netting three goals and picking up 12 assists.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Semedo has all but agreed a deal with Turkish club Fenerbahce, though there were also rumours linking him with a return to Benfica.
On Wednesday (July 30), Romano confirmed via X that Semedo has now agreed personal terms and will be a “surprise signing” for the Turkish giants.

What has Semedo said?
Semedo announced his departure in an emotional message on Instagram on Wednesday (July 30), with Wolves confirming and wishing him the best of luck shortly after.
"The time has arrived and I want to thank you all for these five years, and tell you that you made grow so much as an athlete and as a person," Semedo wrote.
"I always tried my best every single day to represent this club the way it deserves, and I made sure that I always left the pitch with nothing else to give."
Semedo also added that he was transparent in his discussions with Wolves, in order to maintain the level of the club.
"Things took lots of time, but the club knows that I have always been transparent with them because I really want us to be on the level that we must be," he added.
"I met beautiful people that I will take in my heart and led the club as a captain. You have no idea how proud and happy I am for that. I love you and I'll miss you."
After a heavy 3-1 loss to Lens on Thursday (July 31), Wolves have two preseason friendlies remaining – against Girona and Celta Vigo – before kicking off their Premier League campaign at home to Manchester City on August 16.
