Football management is like a merry-go-round at times. Bruno Lage's Benfica side beat Fenerbahce, which cost Jose Mourinho his job with the Turkish side.

Then, following Benfica's loss to Qarabag in the Champions League, Lage was sacked and replaced by Mourinho.

However, Lage, who also managed Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League, might not have to wait long for his next opportunity.

According to Maisfutebol (translated from Portuguese), "Bruno Lage has an advantageous offer on the table to take over Al Ahly."

Al Ahly performed on the global stage this summer

Al Ahly is a huge club in Egypt, which has won the Egyptian Premier League 45 times and the CAF Champions League on 12 occasions.

Due to their success in Africa's Champions League, Al Ahly regularly compete at the Club World Cup.

In the new expanded format last summer, they were introduced to a global audience as they played out a 0-0 draw with Lionel Messi's Inter Miami in the opening game of the tournament.

The Egyptian side then lost 2-0 to Palmerias before playing out a thrilling 4-4 draw with FC Porto. This was not quite enough to advance in the competition as they went out in the group stage.

Since the Club World Cup, Al Ahly have had mixed results in the Egyptian Premier League. This has led to Jose Riveiro being sacked, with club legend Emad El Nahhas taking over on a caretaker basis.
