Graham Potter looked set to take charge of West Ham United against Everton in the Premier League on Monday, but the club has pulled the plug on his time at the club.

There was no sign of Potter being sacked as he took his pre-Everton press conference yesterday. However, West Ham have now released a statement saying that they "can confirm that Head Coach Graham Potter has left the Club."

Potter needed a team to rebuild his reputation following his short spell with Chelsea. He took his time waiting for an opportunity, but West Ham was not the right fit.

The Hammers have been in disarray since they let David Moyes go. Julen Lopetegui was not the right fit, and his big-money signings have become flops.

Potter inherited a mismatch of players, and he was unable to replicate the promise he once showed at Brighton & Hove Albion

Former Hammers Slaven Bilic and Gary O'Neil were linked with replacing Potter. However, they have turned to former Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur, and Nottingham Forest manager, Nuno Espirito Santo.

Ben Jacobs of talkSPORT posted on X " Nuno Espírito Santo has agreed to become West Ham's new manager. He could be in charge for Everton on Monday."

It is very strange for West Ham to make this change just a couple of days before their fixture with Everton.

Football can be strange at times, as Potter's only win of the season came against Nuno's Forest.  Nuno was dismissed after that game as tension between him and the club's hierarchy mounted.

He did a very good job with Forest last season, where he qualified them for the Europa League. However, his task now will be keeping West Ham in the Premier League.
