Tottenham set to rival multiple Premier League teams over a potential move for Bundesliga star image

Tottenham Hotspur are off to a great start in the 2025/26 season with three wins out of the first five Premier League matches under Thomas Frank.

Spurs have looked really good in transition with Richarlison finding form in front of goal while Lucas Bergvall and loan signing Joao Palhinha have been immense in midfield.

Meanwhile Cristian Romero, Djed Spence and Micky van de Ven have been the standout players in the backline.

However, Spurs are still exploring their options in the transfer market and as per reports via CaughtOffside, they are eyeing a move for Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt.

Premier League clubs like Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also interested in the Germany international as he is available on a free transfer with his current contract expiring next summer.

However, some clubs may also look to sign him for a cut-price in the January transfer window to avoid more competition for the 29-year-old.

Why are Tottenham exploring a move for Brandt?

Brandt established himself at Bayer Leverkusen and at one point a lot of clubs across Europe were interested in the German versatile midfielder.

Eventually he moved to Dortmund in 2019 and since then has been a crucial part of Niko Kovac's squad as he provides great flexibility with his ability to play in multiple positions couple with exceptional creativity and dribbling.

He has featured in 200-plus games for Dortmund and continues to be an indispensable part of this Dortmund outfit.

Brandt played a major role in Dortmund's recent resurgence and their journey to the 2023/24 Champions League final where they lost against Real Madrid.

His performances haven't gone unnoticed as several teams across Europe including multiple Premier League clubs are interested to lure Brandt on a free transfer.

Considering James Maddison's long-term injury, Frank may opt for Brandt in midfield as a creative force or else a move to Newcastle or Villa also make sense.

He finished with 22 goal contributions in 50 matches last season for Dortmund which includes five goals and 10 assists in 30 Bundesliga appearances.

Brandt's primary skill is his creativity and his ability to play on the flank despite predominantly being a number 10.

Overall, the 29-year-old could be a great value signing for any club who decides to make a move for him in the January window or in the upcoming summer.
