Tottenham Hotspur will aim for three valuable points in their quest for the UEFA Champions League knockout phase when they host Slavia Prague on Tuesday.

After a 5-3 defeat to holders Paris Saint-Germain last time out, Spurs six 16th in the league-phase standings, with eight points from their opening five matches.

Although they are only two points outside the top six, Thomas Frank's team will be eager to put themselves in a good position ahead of their final two games against Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt in January. Only the top eight qualify automatically for the Round of 16.

Slavia are winless from their first five games, but they are only three points adrift of the playoff places, so they are not yet facing elimination from the tournament.

Tottenham lineup vs. Slavia Prague: Predicted starting XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Vicario (GK)

Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence

Palhinha, Bergvall

Kudus, Simons, Kolo Muani

Tottenham team news

Frank confirmed that Destiny Udogie will miss the rest of December with a hamstring issue, while Brennan Johnson is a doubt for the game with a more minor problem.

Should they line up in a 4-2-3-1, Djed Spence should once more fill in for Udogie on the left, while Randal Kolo Muani may start in attack in support of Richarlison after his goals against PSG.

Xavi Simons got off the mark in the Premier League against Brentford and should start again. The changes could come in midfield: Rodrigo Bentancur and Archie Gray might drop out for Joao Palhinha and Lucas Bergvall.

Tottenham injury list

Below is the latest injury picture for Tottenham, including estimated return dates for those who are sidelined.

Destiny Udogie

  • Injury: Hamstring
  • Expected return date:  January

Frank ruled Udogie out of the rest of December after confirming he had sustained hamstring damage prior to the game with Slavia.

Radu Dragusin

  • Injury: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear
  • Expected return date:  December

Romania international Dragusin tore his ACL in January in a Europa League clash with Elfsborg and his recovery timeline had been set at around 10-11 months. The club confirmed his rehab is on track, but he has not yet returned to the matchday squad.

Dejan Kulusevski

  • Injury: Knee injury
  • Expected return date:  December

Kulusevski's absence has been felt by club and country with the Sweden international yet to feature this season after undergoing knee surgery in May. The call to address a persistent issue was taken before Frank's arrival at Spurs, and all parties are cautious over his comeback date after he played a key role under Ange Postecoglou.

Dominic Solanke

  • Injury: Ankle injury
  • Expected return date:  December

Solanke needed a minor operation on an ankle injury in September. Frank had initially hoped the striker might be back by now, but is now targeting a return in the coming weeks. "We want to be absolutely sure, as sure as we can be, that there is no setback going forward," he said.

Yves Bissouma

  • Injury: Ankle ligament injury
  • Expected return date:  December

Bissouma was another player injured on international duty with Frank confirming an ankle ligament damage suffered in training with the Mali squad.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder has not played for Spurs since being omitted from the UEFA Super Cup final squad for persistent lateness, and there are suggestions he could move on in January.

James Maddison

  • Injury: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear
  • Expected return date:  June 2026

Maddison suffered ACL damage in a preseason game against Newcastle United in August, with his campaign over before it even started. The England international has left a creative gap in Frank's team, but due to the length of his rehabilitation, he's not expected to feature again this season.

Kota Takai

  • Injury: Thigh injury
  • Expected return date:  December

Japan international Takai is yet to make his Spurs debut following a summer move from Kawasake Frontale, but he could get his first taste of Premier League football in December.
