Real Madrid are set to kick off the 2025/26 La Liga campaign with their opening game against Osasuna on August 19, at Santiago Bernabeu.
Los Blancos have made significant additions to their squad over the summer transfer window. However, the new arrivals have cast doubts on the future of some existing stars. One such name is Rodrygo.
Rodrygo has been heavily linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer, with reports suggesting that several clubs, including Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester City, are interested in acquiring the Brazilian star’s signature.
Now, ahead of their La Liga opener, Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has shared his verdict on Rodrygo’s future at Santiago Bernabeu.
What did Xabi Alonso say about Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid?
While addressing the press ahead of Real Madrid’s match against Osasuna, Alonso spoke about Rodrygo, chalking up the reports of the 24-year-old’s transfer away from the Spanish club as ‘rumors’ and said,
“There are many rumors in the summer. I have seen him doing well. I am counting on everyone, and I want them to feel for and with the team and be 100% committed. That is what concerns me and what I am focused on right now,” as per Managing Madrid.

Rodrygo, who has three more years left on his contract at Real Madrid, has netted a total of 68 goals and provided 51 assists in 270 appearances across all competitions.
Alonso’s recent remarks suggest that Rodrygo could feature in Los Blancos’ first home game of the 2025/26 season.
