Having secured second place Barcelona in a thrilling El Clasico encounter last weekend, Real Madrid are set to confront a team at the opposite end of the league standings when they welcome relegation-battling Valencia to the Bernabeu on Saturday.

31st min: GOAL! REAL MADRID! MBAPPE HAS A SECOND, FROM GULER! The league leaders find it quite simple as the Turkish international gets a forward pass and attempts a chip from the left flank, sending the ball towards Mbappé, who awkwardly but successfully uses his left leg to reach it. Air to redirect the pass into the net.

26th min: Arda Guler looks to be fine after his early ankle injury, as he feeds a delicious ball through the legs of his defender for Jude Bellingham clear to the end line, where he sends a cutback to the top of the six-yard box but there's nobody to meet it for a finish.

Guler really is having a sensational season!

16th min: PENALTY, REAL MADRID! As Real Madrid take a corner, two Valencia defenders are fully bear-hugging Real Madrid attackers! Both Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe are football tackled by their marks, with arms fully wrapped around their waist!

Initially there is no call from the referee, and the video review has an EXTREMELY long look at this before recommending a review. Somehow, the review is for a handball on the header by Eder Militao, which is quite silly, but it has been given! In the end, it's not for what it should be, but it's deserving nonetheless!

Stepping up is the talisman Kylian Mbappe, and...GOAL! REAL MADRID! He slots home a cool penalty by sending Julien Agirrezabala the wrong way!

10th min: Chance, Real Madrid! Vinicius Jr. Is played in down the left, and his tight-angle shot is saved well by Julen Agirrezabala at his near post!

5th min: Guler does press on for now, and he plays a wonderful pass to Kylian Mbappe down the left edge of the six-yard box, but his tight-angle strike flashes well over the crossbar off a deflection.

2nd min: There's a real problem here for Arda Guler who is down receiving treatment. Footage indicates the Turkish international player sustained an ankle twist after an awkward landing during an aerial duel. This appears to be a serious injury, and it would be a significant setback for Real Madrid if a player in good form had to leave the game so soon.

Should he attempt to proceed, he'll be under close observation. Upon reviewing that replay, it's difficult to envision him playing effectively at full capacity.

1 hour to kickoff: The Valencia starting lineup is now available. Duro, whose form against Real Madrid has been on the verge of record-setting, is not in the starting lineup. Arnaut Danjuma and Lucas Beltran are the ones starting up front.

Xabi Alonso's primary concerns persist in defense, as Antonio Rudiger  and David Alaba, both center-backs, are still unavailable. Furthermore, club captain Dani Carvajal is now facing a prolonged absence because of a knee injury.

It was thought that Trent Alexander-Arnold would be back in the starting lineup after being cleared to play, but he's a victim of a squad selection issue that Alonso has had to manage every week. With Jude Bellingham now fit, he's had to find ways of slotting in-form Arda Guler into the XI.
