Real Madrid’s patience with Ferland Mendy is reportedly wearing thin and the French defender could be on the move this January.
According to the Defensa Central, the club has made it clear that Mendy is no longer part of its long-term plans after the arrival of Alvaro Carreras from Benfica this summer.
Ferland Mendy who recently extended his contract until June 2027 is reportedly believed to be surplus due to his constant injury problems and high salary.
The club trusts Carreras to become the first-choice left back with Fran Garcia viewed as a more reliable and cost-effective backup.
Mendy’s repeated absences have eroded confidence inside the Santiago Bernabeu, where reportedly, officials now see him as a player whose cycle has ended.

Jose Mourinho looking to sign Real Madrid star
According to a Spanish outlet Jose Mourinho who recently joined Benfica on a provisional two year deal after leaving Fenerbahce has pointed out the left flank as a weak area in his squad and wants to strengthen it immediately.
The Setubal Portugal native has reportedly identified a French defender to fill the gap.
According to the report, for any deal Mendy must regain full fitness. Madrid wants a loan with obligation to buy but Benfica prefers only a short-term arrangement until season end.
