Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso is looking to trim his squad before the 2025/26 La Liga season starts.
Los Blancos are set to kick off their league season at Osasuna on August 19 with their preseason dominated by a post FIFA Club World Cup hangover.
The club's failed attempt to push the Osasuna game back by a week means Alonso will have limited time to work with his players on their return to Valdebebas at the start of August.
His squad have enjoyed roughly three weeks of holiday, to be followed by two-to-three weeks of training, with no preseason games scheduled.
Alonso will have a new-look defence to work with, following the arrivals of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras, but the former midfielder needs to offload players, to meet La Liga 25-player squad rule.
The club are still willing to bankroll more signings, but Alonso will need to sell before he can buy, with Brahim Diaz and David Alaba two names linked to an exit.

Real Madrid pair reject Turkish Super Lig offers
Veteran defender Alaba has seen the last two years of his career blighted by an ACL tear which kept sidelined for 13 months.
Morocco international Diaz has shown flashes of his capability, but 25-year-old was used sparingly by Carlo Ancelotti last season, with 15 league starts and 16 substitute appearances and four goals scored.
As per reports from Diario AS, Diaz has rejected an offer from Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce, as he wants to prove his worth in Madrid.

The club are open an extension, if Alonso is convinced by his long-term status, but Arda Guler is now ahead of him in the starting pecking order.
Fenerbahce are also reportedly looking into an offer for Alaba, who has not been offered an extension beyond his expiring deal in 2026, but wages are an issue.
Mourinho is angling for a free transfer, and a settlement over his remaining contract in Madrid, but Alaba's £11m annual salary is too high and the former Bayern Munich star will not lower it.
