Real Madrid have offered a huge injury update on Jude Bellingham ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Los Blancos wrap up the La Liga season on May 24 at home to Real Sociedad as Carlo Ancelotti bids farewell to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

As Ancelotti moves on, the club are confident of having Xabi Alonso in place as his replacement, before they fly out to the USA at the start of June.

Bellingham will miss out against La Real, after picking up his fifth La Liga yellow card of the campaign in the 2-0 win over Sevilla on May 18 and he is in line for a second absence later this summer.

Real Madrid have been working closely with Bellingham to assess a long-standing shoulder issue for the England international who has been troubled by the problem since the end of 2023.

Fans have regularly seen Bellingham wearing a shoulder brace, as part of the medical staff's management of the injury, but the call has now been made for surgery.

Jude Bellingham injury update: How long will England star be out for?

Real Madrid have decided to send Bellingham for an operation after the Club World Cup, dispelling fears he could miss the USA tournament, but he will miss a chunk of action from July onwards.

As per reports from BBC Sport, Bellingham will miss the first six weeks of the 2025/26 La Liga season - which is due to start in mid-August.

That roughly places Bellingham's time on the sidelines at two months, which is by far the longest he's been out of action, across his spells at Birmingham City, Borussia Dortmund and Madrid.

Bellingham will also not be able to participate fully in preseason training - which will be a particular concern for incoming Los Blancos boss Alonso - with Real Madrid expected to announce a preseason tour after the Club World Cup.
