As the La Liga transfer window enters its final weeks the main exit story at Real Madrid has taken an unexpected turn at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

The club have already brought in Franco Mastantuono, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alvaro Carreras and Dean Huijsen this summer, but there is still room for more activity, if the right opportunity comes along.

One possible move could involve Rodrygo Goes leaving the Spanish capital, which could open the path for the arrival of a top central defender before the market closes.

Earlier in the window Defensa Central [via Football365] said Arsenal made an 'offer' to Los Blancos to swap Rodrygo for William Saliba in a bold transfer change.

The 24-year-old French defender is out of contract with the Gunners in 2027 and has become one of the most in demand centre backs in Europe.

Arsenal’s initial approach this summer has been to strengthen their front line and that could now force a sale.

Real Madrid could swap Rodrygo for Saliba

In their latest update the Spanish outlet claim Real Madrid could accept a swap if the circumstances are right.

The club have shifted focus back to Saliba with Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate the other option.

Although the swap deal is not officially on the table, reports suggest Real Madrid could still consider it, if Mikel Arteta is in favour.

Rodrygo is increasingly viewed as expendable in Xabi Alonso's plans, and strengthening the central defensive positions remains a top priority for the club, which sees the final weeks of the window as crucial.
