Nottingham Forest have welcomed four new players to their squad in the ongoing summer transfer window, with reports suggesting that one more is soon to be announced.

Earlier this month, several reports claimed that Forest were closing in on finalising a deal with Manchester City to sign one of their academy graduates, James McAtee.

McAtee, who started his senior career at the Etihad in 2021, has been on loan to Sheffield United from 2022 to 2024. The 22-year-old midfielder started in only three out of the 15 Premier League appearances he made for City last season.

The Englishman scored a total of seven goals in 27 matches across all competitions for Man City in the previous campaign.

With one year more left on his current contract at Man City, McAtee has attracted interest from several clubs across leagues, including Eintracht Frankfurt, who reportedly emerged as one of his top suitors.

Now, Nottingham Forest have reached a ‘total agreement’ with Manchester City to sign McAtee, according to The Athletic.

What are the terms of Nottingham Forest’s deal for Man City’s James McAtee?

Nottingham Forest’s reported interest in McAtee comes amid the Man City academy graduate’s ability to play as a No.8 and/or No.10, which can bolster their midfield, especially after they parted ways with Danilo and Lewis O’Brien this summer.

Forest have reportedly agreed on a deal worth £30m with Man City for McAtee, which includes sell-on and buy-back clauses.

It remains to be seen if McAtee’s potential signing will be officially announced prior to Nottingham Forest’s opening Premier League clash of the 2025/26 campaign against Brentford on August 17 at City Ground.
