For the first time in tournament history there were 32 national teams doing battle at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, with half of the field suffering elimination after the group stage.

The 32 teams were split into eight groups of four teams each. Only the top two teams at the end of the group stage advanced to the Round of 16.

The two co-hosts — Australia and New Zealand — started on the right foot with victories, but the latter made unwanted history by becoming the first host nation to fail to make it out the group stage.

The group stage wrapped up on August 3 with 16 nations left standing in the hope of reaching the final on August 20 in Sydney, Australia where Spain were crowned champions for the first time with a 1-0 win over England.

Below are the final tables, standings, and results for the entire tournament.
