The PFA Player of the Year is one of the most coveted awards a footballer in the Premier League can have bestowed upon them.

With legends such as Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Alan Shearer, Cristiano Ronaldo, and many more having won previously, every year a new award winner joins the pantheon of greats that came before.

The award is chosen by the Professional Footballers' Association, which is the trade union for players in England and Wales.

The Sporting News breaks down who is up for the award and all previous winners to have been selected.
