While many European leagues have their own way of signaling the start of the domestic season, UEFA has developed its own curtain-raiser to whet the appetite of fans who are gearing up for the coming campaign.

The UEFA Super Cup is an annual one-off game that pits the previous season's winners of the top two European competitions, the Champions League and Europa League, against one another.

The two teams are often just three months off their triumph in their respective competition, with the two tournaments concluding the previous May.

The Sporting News brings you all the information regarding the 2025 UEFA Super Cup, including when it will take place, who is participating, and where it will be held.

When is the 2025 UEFA Super Cup?

The 2025 UEFA Super Cup will take place on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 and will be a de facto signal that the 2025/26 European club season has begun.

The Premier League season is slated to begin that weekend, as is the start of La Liga. The Serie A season will start the following weekend, as will the Bundesliga campaign.

The match will be held at Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy. The venue is the regular home of Serie A club Udinese.

Who is playing in the 2025 UEFA Super Cup?

Paris Saint-Germain secured their place at the 2025 UEFA Super Cup after thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in the Champions League final.

The other participant was already known, as Tottenham Hotspur won the Europa League title with a victory over Manchester United in the final.

In doing so, Spurs not only qualified for the Super Cup but also for the 2025/26 Champions League competition.
