England's Lionesses will look to take one step closer to European glory when they square off against Italy in the Women's Euro 2025 semifinal at the Stade de Geneve on Tuesday evening.

A model of consistency on the international stage, England have now advanced to the final four in each of their last six major tournaments, a streak that began at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Over the past decade, they've featured in two finals and will be aiming to book a third. However, Sarina Wiegman's side knows they'll need to raise their level if they’re to go all the way in Switzerland.

For Italy, this is unfamiliar yet historic territory. The Azzurre are in their first semifinal at a major tournament since 1997, when they finished runners-up in the European Championship's debut eight-team format.

Since then, the Italians have largely flattered to deceive, bowing out at the group stage four times and reaching the quarter-finals just twice.

England vs. Italy predicted lineups, team news

England's preparations have been slightly clouded by an injury concern surrounding Leah Williamson. The Arsenal defender limped off in the quarter-final triumph over Sweden after turning her ankle, and she’s set to undergo further assessment.

That setback might prompt Wiegman to deviate from her usual approach of sticking with an unchanged starting XI, particularly after a few defensive lapses were exposed in their previous outing.

England predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Hampton (GK) — Bronze, Williamson, Carter, Greenwood — Toone, Walsh — Stanway, James, Hemp — Russo.

On the other side, Italy come into the clash with a clean bill of health. Head coach Andrea Soncin may well name an unchanged side following a composed and convincing win over Norway in the last eight, a match they managed to put to bed within regulation time.
