Thomas Tuchel heads into his third England national team camp looking to take one step closer 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.

The German coach formally took charge at the start of 2025, following Gareth Southgate's departure last summer, and Lee Carsley's interim spell.

Two routine wins from the two March qualifiers secured a perfect start for Tuchel, but June's window featured a narrow 1-0 victory at minnows Andorra, and a friendly loss to Senegal.

September's matches feature a home clash with Andorra at Wembley Stadium on September 6 before a testing trip to Serbia three days later.

Tuchel has made some bold calls in his latest squad selection, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Phil Foden omitted, with Cole Palmer and Bukayo Saka sidelined through injury.

Ahead of the squad meet up in the next 24 hours, one player has already withdrawn, after Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner flaggd up a hamstring issue for midfield star Adam Wharton.

Glasner confirmed the update following Palace's impressive 3-0 Premier League win at Aston Villa on August 31 with Wharton forced off after 56 minutes at Villa Park.

With Jude Bellingham ruled out following shoulder surgery, Wharton had been tipped for a starting role, after Tuchel named him as part of an inexperienced crop of midfielders.

Jordan Henderson and Declan Rice should both start and Liverpool's Curtis Jones could be called up to replace Wharton ahead of the Andorra clash.
