Sunderland and Newcastle United renew hostilities in the Premier League after almost a decade apart.
The Tyne-Wear derby has not taken place in England's top flight since 2016, when Newcastle were relegated. The Magpies secured an instant return to the Premier League, but Sunderland passed them going in the other direction.
A stint in League One followed for the Black Cats before they dramatically beat Sheffield United in last season's Championship playoff final.
Eddie Howe's side won 3-0 at the Stadium of Light in an FA Cup third-round tie in January 2024, but they head into this match below their rivals in the table. Regis Le Bris' men have had an accomplished start to life back among the elite.
