The European club season got underway last week with the opening match day of the UEFA Champions League and now the UEFA Europa League takes centre stage in the midweek football betting slate with an intriguing contest in Andalusia.

Real Betis, finalists in last season’s UEFA Europa Conference League, head into this one on the back of an impressive performance against Real Sociedad, as they defeated the Basque giants 3-1.

Ange Postecoglou took charge of Nottingham Forest last week after Nuno Espirito Santo (favourite to replace Potter at West Ham) became the first manager to leave in this season's Premier League, despite producing the excellent feat of qualifying Forest for Europe.

It has been a tricky start for the Australian boss, with back-to-back losses followed by a 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor last weekend in the Premier League.

The Sporting News brings you the latest tips and odds as Real Betis welcome Nottingham Forest to Seville in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League.

Real Betis vs Nottingham Forest: Who will win?

Despite the fact that this match is being played at La Cartuja, rather than the Benito Villamarin due to construction, Betis will still fancy their chances. Los Verdiblancos finally cracked it in Europe last year and, albeit this is a step up in quality, Forest just look to be struggling to gel in the early stages of the Postecoglou reign.

The Sporting News’ Score Prediction

Real Betis vs. Nottingham Forest team news

  • In the second-half of last season, Betis were excellent but a lot of that was built around Isco and the former Real Madrid has been sidelined throughout the opening few weeks of this season.
  • As well as the absence of Isco, Betis will remain without midfielder Nelson Deossa, who joined this summer after playing for Monterrey at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
  • Callum Hudson-Odoi was surprisingly dropped by Postecoglou against Burnley at the weekend but the England international is surely expected to come back into the eleven.
  • There is also still an issue for Forest at the back as Brazilian centre-back Murillo remains a doubt, with compatriot Morato his continued likely replacement in the back four for the visitors.
