Dele has suffered yet another unfortunate setback in his attempt to get his footballing career back on track.
The past few years have been tough for the attacking midfielder with spells at Everton and Besiktas not working out, while he has dealt with hip and groin injuries.
On Monday (September 1), it was announced that his contract at Como would be terminated and he would become a free agent.
The former Tottenham Hotspur star moved to the Serie A side on an 18-month deal at the start of this year to rejuvenate his career, but his time in Italy turned into a nightmare.
On his Como debut in March, he was sent off just 10 minutes after coming on as a substitute against AC Milan due to committing a reckless challenge on compatriot Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
This would go on to be the only appearance Dele would make for Cesc Fabregas' side.
The player's current situation is a massive contrast to the one when he was regarded as a major Premier League talent and a key starter for the England national side.

Why have Como and Dele parted ways?
The decision for Como to move on from Dele was due to him being deemed surplus to requirements by the club for the 2025/26 season, subsequently making him available for transfer.
It was in the 29-year-old's interest to then look for gametime elsewhere as he would not receive it under Fabregas.
The Italian club's official statement on the decision read: "Como and Dele have agreed to a mutual termination of his contract."
"Dele is keen to secure regular playing opportunities and, as he was not part of the club's immediate plans, both parties felt it was the right decision to part ways ahead of the transfer window closing."
Despite the transfer window shutting for most of Europe's top leagues on Monday (September 1), Dele will still be able to search for a new club as he is a free agent.
The two-time PFA Young Player of the Year will be hoping his next move can finally allow him to enjoy himself on the football pitch again after a very challenging few years.
