Next Celtic manager odds: O'Neill moves into favourite after strong start to interim role image

Celtic find themselves still searching for a new permanent boss after Sunday's Old Firm derby victory over Rangers in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup at Hampden Park.

Brendan Rodgers quit two weeks ago after tensions with the board reportedly reached breaking point, prompting major shareholder Dermot Desmond to brand his conduct "divisive, misleading, and self-serving."

While current interim and legendary former manager Martin O'Neill had been the favourite with the bookies for the role following a strong start in charge, Bodo/Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen has surged into favourite on Friday morning.

The 57-year-old has performed brilliantly with the Norwegian side and could be available once their league season ends in three weeks.

Here's the full list of odds on who will be the next manager of Celtic.

Who is the favourite to be the next Celtic manager?

Kjetil Knutsen  is the new favourite for the Celtic job with a lot of money seemingly being placed on the Bodo/Glimt manager on Thursday night.

He has done a brilliant job with the Norwegian side, who are on the brink of a fifth league title in six seasons and are a competitive force in the Champions League, having almost toppled Tottenham this season.

Kieran McKenna had emerged as the early frontrunner in the race to become Celtic's next manager. The Ipswich Town boss has earned widespread praise for his remarkable work at Portman Road, guiding the club from League One all the way to the Premier League and keeping them competitive even in relegation.

Linked with a string of top-flight jobs south of the border, McKenna may feel the moment is right to take the next step in his career, especially with Ipswich sitting mid-table in a fiercely contested Championship.

He was the clear favourite for the Celtic post at one point with the bookies but is now out to 11/1.

Martin O'Neill looked a good bet after two wins from two with reports suggesting that the 73-year-old was close to being given the job on a permanent basis after his current two-game interim spell.

Wins over Falkirk and Ragers helped his cause but the shambolic Europa League loss to Midtjylland reminded everyone of the huge task at hand, and how different things are in Glasgow compared to the first time O'Neill was charge.

Key contenders for Celtic job according to the betting odds

Ange Postecoglou was tipped at one point but he has drifted (7/1 with Bet Victor) and a return to Paradise doesn't look likely right now.

The Australian's previous stint at Parkhead was nothing short of stellar, across two seasons and 113 matches, he secured 83 victories and suffered only 18 defeats. During his reign, he guided the Bhoys to two Scottish Premiership titles and three Scottish Cups, establishing a dominant era in Scottish football. It’s little surprise, then, that his name remains firmly in the mix.

Behind him in the betting is Robbie Keane (9/1 with Sky Bet), though his potential appointment would likely stir controversy due to his tenure as Maccabi Tel Aviv boss amid the ongoing Gaza-Israel conflict.

The gap between the leading candidates has narrowed significantly, hinting that Celtic's hierarchy are in no rush to make a final decision.
