The first international break of the season is now out of the way and we have two Premier League sides that are desperate for a victory after a disrupted start to the season, which also involved Newcastle United’s pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Strand Larsen remained at Molineux, but the Magpies have brought in Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa to strengthen an attack that was left depleted by the sale of soon to be FPL favourite Alexander Isak to Liverpool.
Wolves brought in Nigeria international striker Tolu Arokodare but Vitor Pereira had said he wanted a bit more than in the window.
Wolves have suffered defeat in all three of their games thus far, whilst Newcastle have shared goalless draws with Aston Villa and Leeds United on the road, either side of a dramatic 3-2 loss to Liverpool at St James’ Park.
The Sporting News has all the latest odds, tips and predictions for this clash at St James’ Park upon Tyneside this weekend.
Newcastle vs. Wolves prediction
Eddie Howe’s side haven’t played poorly, despite their average form thus far and they will be expected to win this one quite comfortably, as they face a Wolves side that have lost key men this summer and Pereira, yet to show his renowned combustibility, could be on the verge of blowing up at the running of the club.
The Sporting News Score Prediction:
Newcastle 3-0 Wolves
- Newcastle are one of the favourites to finish in the top four or five and once again qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season.
- The Magpies are also the firm favourites to defeat Wolves with the bookmakers, especially with their home advantage.
- Newcastle could hand debuts to both Woltemade (Wissa has a knee injury) as they welcome Wolves to the northeast.

Newcastle vs. Wolves team news
- Newcastle United will remain without Anthony Gordon for this one, with the former Everton man suspended due to a red card received against Liverpool.
- Eddie Howe switched to a back three against Leeds, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a similar system deployed for this one, with Woltemade and Wissa striving for a starting berth.
- Pereira has been keen on using a back three himself but they are struggling to find any fluency and it wouldn’t be a shock to see Arokodare thrown straight in.
- Wolves will be able to welcome back centre-back Toti, after he was missing through suspension against Everton a couple of weeks ago.
