The news confirms United's keen interest in the Slovenian international, who has recently been strongly linked with a move to Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
United have been actively searching to bolster their attacking line under manager Ruben Amorim this summer.
While deals for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have been sealed, the pursuit of a top-tier central striker to lead the line has remained a priority, especially given Rasmus Hojlund's struggles for consistent goals last season.
Sesko, 22, has long been on the radar of several European giants, and Sky Sports Germany's report indicates that United are now firmly in the mix.

The towering forward, known for his impressive physical presence (6ft 4in), surprising pace, and clinical finishing, netted 13 Bundesliga goals last season for RB Leipzig.
His ability to hold up play, link with midfielders, and provide a strong aerial threat makes him an attractive proposition for a Premier League side.
Initial reports from earlier in the window suggested Sesko was destined for Arsenal, but those negotiations reportedly broke down, with the Gunners instead moving for Sporting CP's Viktor Gyökeres.
This opened the door for other suitors, and it appears Manchester United have wasted no time in making their interest known.
Sky Sports News has previously indicated that Christopher Vivell, United's head of scouting, knows Sesko well from their time together at RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig, adding an intriguing layer to this developing transfer saga.

While Sesko's reported release clause was initially deemed high by many clubs, around £68 million to £86 million, the latest whispers suggest Leipzig's asking price might be negotiable, particularly if the player expresses a strong desire to leave.
Indeed, reports from Sky Sports Germany on July 27 suggested that RB Leipzig has already agreed a verbal deal for a potential Sesko replacement, Brazilian striker Romulo, which could signal their readiness to sell.
Any potential deal for Sesko at Old Trafford, however, is likely to depend on outgoings.
Reports suggest United must raise significant funds through player sales, with names like Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony all linked with potential departures, to finance further high-profile acquisitions this summer.
As the transfer window progresses, the battle for Sesko's signature is expected to intensify.
With Manchester United now formally in the running, the coming weeks could see the Red Devils make a decisive move for the promising Slovenian striker.
