Manchester City  welcome surprise package Sunderland to the Etihad today after their remarkable win over Fulham in midweek.

On Tuesday evening, City   were cruising when they raced into a 5-1 lead at Craven Cottage against Fulham just a few minutes into the second-half. However, a Samu Chukwueze-inspired fightback saw the Cottagers rally back to being 5-4 down and forcing City into an unexpectedly nervy end.

The 6th place   Mackems continued their remarkable return to the top-flight by coming from 2-0 down against Bournemouth to win 3-2 at the Stadium of Light last weekend before earning themselves a 1-1 draw against faltering defending champions Liverpool at Anfield.

However, Man City should make it three wins on the bounce. AllSportsPeople brings you the latest tips and odds for this Premier League clash.

Man City vs. Sunderland prediction: Who will win today?

We're backing City to make it three wins in a row by a single-goal margin. Only Burnley and West Ham have allowed more shots on goal than Sunderland (15.1 per match)

Following defeats to Newcastle and then Bayer Leverkusen, City gave up a 2-0 lead against Leeds United before squeezing out a 3-2 win at the Etihad, before then edging past Fulham again in midweek.

Against a team that produced one of the comebacks of the season of their own last year, City won't be able to rest on their laurels even if they get ahead. The hosts remain favourites but the Black Cats may be difficult opponents to shake off.

Man City vs. Sunderland: TSN Score Prediction

As has been the case throughout this campaign, regardless of their opposition, Sunderland will be extremely competitive.

They will pose a threat to a City side struggling to replicate past consistency. City should edge to victory but it won't be straightforward for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Prediction: Man City 2-1 Sunderland (9/1 with Bet365)

Man City Team News

  • Manchester City are dealing with injury issues as both Rodri and Mateo Kovacic are sidelined.
  • The hosts have been heavily rotating throughout the campaign, as is the desire of Guardiola, but Phil Foden is someone who should keep his spot after finding some excellent form of late.
  • Jeremy Doku is also forming part of that exciting front three, while Bernardo Silva’s industry will be required against a tireless and smart Sunderland side.

  • Sunderland switched back to the back three at Anfield and will be expected to keep that the same for this one with Trai Hume and Reinildo as their wing-backs.

  • Enzo Le Fee formed an exciting partnership of so-called ‘number tens’ alongside Chemsdine Talbi, in behind Brian Brobbey, who is competing for his spot against Wilson Isidor.
