Man City reject Saudi Pro League bid as veteran star confirms transfer plan image

Pep Guardiola looks to have wrapped up his incoming summer transfer business at Manchester City.

The Catalan coach was keen to bring in new faces as early as possible, following a trophyless 2024/25 campaign, wrapped up by frustration at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki have landed as part of a squad refresh with former captains Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker moving on.

Guardiola could still sanction some exits, with Jack Grealish on the hunt for a new club after being omitted for the Club World Cup, as the England international faces a career crossroads.

The priority is to have a clear plan in place before the 2025/26 Premier League season opener at Wolves on August 17.

As part of Guardiola's firm stance, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has indicated the club have rejected an offer from the Saudi Pro League, aimed at veteran midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

Kovacic is under contract in Manchester until June 2027 and Guardiola is keen to retain his experience for at least one more season.

The goal for Kovacic is to play for Croatia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after which a decision on his club future will be made.

The 31-year-old has made 61 top-flight appearances since joining City from Chelsea in 2023 with six league goals last season - as his highest-ever career tally.
