Leeds United are interested in signing Maccabi Tel Aviv’s midfielder Issouf Sissokho with talks said to be advancing positively, according to Africafoot.
The Premier League side who are sitting 15th after an inconsistent start have identified the 23-year-old Malian as a priority target for the January window.
Sissokho was born in Bamako and began his career at Derby Academie before moving to France to join Girondins Bordeaux where he developed his game through regular first team involvement and his switch to Maccabi Tel Aviv last year allowed him to grow further and he has now played more than 50 matches for the Israeli club.
Bamako native has already delivered three assists in twelve appearances across Champions League qualifying and the Europa League this season.
Those performances has drawn significant attention of several English scouts with Leeds United entering talks with his representatives and are preparing an official offer with a verbal agreement reportedly close.
Daniel Farke side has already signed Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff in the summer but they remain focused on strengthening their midfield ahead of the second half of the season.
