Bayern Munich are in the market for a new centre-back considering the contract impasse with Dayot Upamecano, who is demanding a signing fee which the Bavarians are reportedly not ready to offer.
Similarly, they are also not happy with Kim Min-jae because of his performances from last season. The South Korean will have the entirety of this season to change the mind of the Bayern hierarchy.
But for now, Bayern Munich are looking at other options in the market to reinforce their backline next summer.
According to several reports, Bayern are showing interest in Borussia Dortmund star defender Nico Schlotterbeck to replace one of Upamecano or Kim.
The Germany international's current contract with Dortmund expires in 2027 and he is denying contract extension and could be sold next summer as it will be the last opportunity for BVB to gain a fee for the 25-year-old.
Ahead of the Der Klassiker fixture against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, 18 October, Vincent Kompany was asked about Schlotterbeck's qualities and whether the Belgian sees himself working with the German defender in the near future.

"I only see Nico Schlotterbeck as an opponent tomorrow. Of course, I know his profile very well. He's a player with good progressive passes and links up well with Guirassy. His build-up play is very important for BVB. Otherwise, as I said I only see him as an opponent this week," Kompany told the reporters at the pre-match press conference.
Which other clubs are also interested in Schlotterbeck?
Apart from Bayern Munich, several other clubs are interested in signing Schlotterbeck next summer as he will be available at an economical price.

Liverpool have already held initial talks with Schlotterbeck's camp as they feel he could be the ideal Ibrahima Konate replacement and lead the Reds backline in the coming years.
La Liga giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also watching the contract situation closely and considering his exceptional passing ability, the 25-year-old is also a top candidate for them.
Schlotterbeck is often hailed as a 'quarterback' in football mainly due to his pinpoint progressive passes from defense and his overall capacity to win duels. He is also an excellent reader of the game and positions him perfectly under any circumstances.
The German centre-back is easily one of the best ball-playing defenders right now and his demand is expected to soar as he would be available for a reasonable price next summer that is if he decides to not renew his contract with Dortmund.
