Harry Kane was on the scoresheet once again on Wednesday night (September 17), as his brace helped Bayern Munich record a 3-1 win over Chelsea in the Champions League.

The striker's display at the Allianz Arena was a special one, as he overtook England icon David Beckham in registering the most goal involvements by an English player in Europe's premier competition with 53 (42 goals, 11 assists).

Another feat the ex-Tottenham Hotspur player achieved in Bayern's latest outing was becoming just the third player after Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar to score over 20 Champions League goals for two different teams.

Kane's first goal on Wednesday night came from the penalty spot to put his side 2-0 up, after he had won the spot-kick due to Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo fouling him inside the 18-yard box.

Cole Palmer pulled a goal back for Chelsea before the break with a superb finish into the top left-side corner.

However, Kane restored Bayern's two-goal cushion just past the hour mark as he pounced on a poor back pass from Malo Gusto, before slotting the ball into the far corner of Robert Sanchez's net.

Kane praised for scoring ability

After impressing in front of goal once again, Kane received high praise for the consistency he has shown across his career by former England international and Champions League winner Jamie Carragher.

"He (Kane) is one of the greatest goal scorers the game has seen," Carragher claimed on CBS Sports' UCL Today show.

"He's done it in the Premier League with a team that aren't one of the top teams. He's gone abroad now with Bayern Munich. All eyes are on him and there's huge pressure," the ex-defender added.

Despite England having great strikers before such as Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker, Carragher believes Kane is better than all of them, as he has the stats and all-round ability to back that up.

"His numbers are off the scale. He can come deep, he can get on the ball and he can play people in. He's the best striker England have ever had," Carragher explained.

Kane currently sits as England's highest goal scorer ever with 74 goals in 109 caps. 15 of the striker's goals have come for The Three Lions at major tournaments.
