Patrick Bamford had been a free agent all summer since departing Leeds United at the end of last season, but the striker has finally found a new club.

The striker had great success with Leeds, helping them to two Championship titles. However, last season he struggled with a muscle injury, which meant he made just 17 league appearances.

Leeds was the club that Bamford settled at after being at Chelsea, where he had numerous loans to clubs, including Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, and Norwich City.

His best season for the Elland Road side was the 2020/21 campaign, where he scored 17 Premier League goals and was rewarded for this with an England cap.

Now at the age of 32, he is set to embark on a new challenge in La Liga. Matteo Moretto posted in X (translated from Spanish), "Getafe is very close to signing free agent striker Patrick Bamford."

Getafe already has former England U20 player Abu Kamara in their ranks, who is on loan from Hull City.

They are captained by their long-serving versatile player, Djene. Getafe is managed by Jose Bordalas, who is in his second spell at the club.

The city of Getafe is very close to Madrid. The club has benefited from this by signing Mario Martin on loan for this season.

Bardalas' side have had a good start to the season, where they are currently eighth in La Liga.

In this campaign, Getafe has beaten Celta Vigo, Sevilla, and Real Oviedo. However, they have lost to Barcelona and Valencia. They face Alaves in La Liga tonight.
