Cristiano Ronaldo’s future with Al-Nassr is in serious doubt after the Portuguese superstar has stalled on a verbal agreement that was all but sealed only a few weeks ago.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Ronaldo and Al-Nassr had reached a verbal pact to extend his stay until 2026 — a deal that would see the five-time Ballon d’Or winner earn a staggering €200m (£169m) next season, aligning perfectly with his goal to feature at the next year’s World Cup.
However, Al-Nassr’s painful exit in the Asian Champions League at the hands of Kawasaki Frontale has changed the mood around the camp and cast doubts over the legend’s immediate future.
The report further reveals that Ronaldo has asked to put the contract on hold, as frustrations over the team’s progress and doubts about the club’s sporting project have emerged.
On the back of a below-par season, Ronaldo is demanding firm assurances over the club’s ambition. Ronaldo’s stance is justifiable since he is at the age of 40 and nearing what could be his last season in professional football.
Should Ronaldo decide not to renew his contract with Al-Nassr and move elsewhere, he won’t be short of potential suitors.

While some reports have linked him with a return to Sporting CP, others have claimed that an unnamed Brazilian club has sent a ‘major’ contract proposal to Ronaldo.
While it has not been confirmed whether that offer is genuine, Ronaldo would most likely choose a club playing at a high level if he decides to leave Al-Nassr so that he can give himself the best chance of playing at next year’s FIFA World Cup.
