JUMP TO:

Benjamin Sekso bagged a much-needed brace before managerless Manchester United were pegged back to a 2-2 draw at Burnley.

United headed to Turf Moor under caretaker manager Darren Fletcher after the tumultuous end to Ruben Amorim's Old Trafford tenure.

When Ayden Heaven diverted Bashir Humphreys' cross into his own net to give relegation-threatened Burnley a 13th-minute lead, it felt entirely in keeping with United's week.

Fletcher ditched Amorim's pet 3-4-2-1 as expected and United grew into the contest. Matheus Cunha and Patrik Dorgu were each denied by spectacular goalline clearances from Humphreys and Maxime Esteve respectively.

In between those incidents, Lisandro Martinez had a goal disallowed for a foul on Kyle Walker and Sesko drew a magnificent save from Martin Dubravka with a header from Casemiro's searching cross.

The equaliser was certainly on the cards and Sesko made no mistake five minutes after the interval, latching on to Bruno Fernandes' through ball to end nine United outings without a goal.

His second came 10 minutes later as Sesko displayed smart movement to steer home Patrik Dorgu's cross on the volley.

United should have closed out the points from there but Burnley substitute Jaidon Anthony was given room by Martinez to pick out a fabulous finish into the far corner.

Teenage substitute Shea Lacey almost sent the away end into raptures when he unleashed a long-range strike that rattled Dubravka's crossbar. Burnley held out, though, joining fellow bottom-three clubs West Ham and Wolves in claiming a draw against United from a losing position.

Burnley vs. Man United live updates, highlights, and commentary

Fulltime

Burnley get a point, which chips away at their huge struggle against relegation. United deserved to win this on balance. Benjamin Sesko got some overdue goals and, in the context of United's week overall, avoiding a humiliating night is not to be sniffed at. With teams all around them also dropping points, the Red Devils remain very much in the top four hunt, despite everything.

90+4 mins; Lacey tries his luck again and that's not half bad either. The boy can certainly hit them.

90 mins: Five minutes to be added on.

89 mins: Burnley boss Scott Parker has talked his way into a yellow card. Foster getting caught pointlessly offside when his team need some respite is unlikely to improve his mood.

85 minsLACEY HITS THE CROSSBAR! The United youngster who's just come on almost had a moment to savour. Dubravka grasping at air as a magnificent strike cannons on the crossbar.

81 mins: Ohhhhh, Sekso should have his hat-trick but he doesn't make a clean contact and Dubravka can gather the bouncing ball.

78 mins: Dalot fizzes in a cross and Yoro, who has stayed forward, smartly tries to turn goalwards but his header is wide.

76 mins: Foster, who was only in AFCON action for South Africa on Sunday, comes on to replace Broja up front for Burnley.

72 mins: Shaw pops a pass in to Sesko, who turns and shoots too close to Dubravka. Burnley try to break through Broja but the move breaks down. Zirkzee and Mainoo about to come on for United.

70 mins: Burnley buoyed, as you'd expect, by that goal. Edwards, who has shown some bright touches all night, is to the fore. Can United force them back again with Fernandes off the field.

66 minsGOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!! Jaidon Anthony!!!!

Oh my word, where's that come from? Anthony shows wonderful close control, Martinez stands off him haphazardly and the Burnley forward creams one into the far top corner. Glorious finish.

60 mins: GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!! Benjamin Sesko!!!!!

Sesko does it again! Fine movement from the United striker, who gets in between two Burnley defenders to steer home a volley from Dorgu's superb cross.

59 mins: First Burnley change as Anthony replaces Hannibal, who is both on a yellow card and a complete liability in that scenario.

57 minsOh, Heaven should give United the lead!  The young centre-back gets up unchallenged from a corner and powers his header off target. The perfect chance to make up for that unfortunate first-half own-goal goes begging.

55 minsFernandes hits the post!  Humphreys does quite well to show the Portugal star wide and he can only rattle the outside of Dubravka's near post.

50 mins: GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!! Benjamin Sesko!!!!!

The pressure tells and Sesko gets the goal he badly needed. Slide-rule pass and the former RB Leipzig star crashes home his third goal of the season.

48 mins: More of what we saw during the closign stages of the first half here, with Burnley being pushed right back.

Kickoff: 2nd Half

Burnley get us back underway. No changes for either side as yet.

Halftime

United really haven't been bad here. For the final 15 minutes of the half, they were outright good. But Burnley lead through that unfortunate Ayden Heaven own-goal.

45+2 mins: OFF THE LINE AGAIN!  That's incredible from a sliding Esteve, who clears Dorgu's effort form the goalmouth. It's a lovely dinked finish from the United man too, he couldn't have done anything more.

44 minsOhhhh, Ugarte just wide!  Casemiro knocks one down to his midfield partner, who hits a rasping shot past the left post from the edge of the box.

43 mins: Brilliant save from Dubravka!  Casemiro aims in the cross and Sesko gets up to send a header towards the top corner that the veteran goalkeeper pushes over at full stretch.

41 mins: Dorgu smartly dispossesses Walker and sends Sesko dashing into the Burnley box. He takes on the shot early but there's not a lot behind it and it's too close to Dubravka.

38 mins: More United pressure and Burnley struggle to clear until Pires welts it all the way into the opposition half. Scott Parker's side just looking a little like they need halftime here.

32 minsPires inches away from making it 2-0!  Smart break from Burnley and the wing-back tries his luck from the left-hand corner of the box. Lammens probably had that covered but it wasn't far away.

31 mins: Despite that disallowed goal, United are enjoying their best spell. Casemiro smashes a ball across goal from the right, To his chagrin, there's no one there.

29 mins: NO GOAL! Burnley's lead remains.

28 mins: Martinez converts from the corner but the referee has spotted a foul.  There was a lot going on in there, but the United defender initially grabbing Walker is probably why it won't stand.

27 mins: Off the line!  Casemiro heads Fernandes' free-kick back across goal, Cunha gets up above Walker but Humphreys clears brilliantly.

26 mins: Cunha darts infield and wins a free-kick from Ugochukwu. Fernandes over the ball about 30 yards out,

23 mins: Here's Sesko. Fernandes curls in an inviting cross from deep, Sesko gets in between two Burnley defenders smartly but his glancing header is too close to Dubravka.

18 mins: Burnley still playing the smoother football of the two sides here as United look to regroup. The visitors have looked dangerous on the break but need much more from Sesko at centre-forward.

13 minsGOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLL!!!!! Ayden Heaven (OG!)

Burnley lead, through a fair slice of fortune, that also seems par for the course for Manchester United right now. Hannibal finds Humphreys running off the back of Casemiro. He has room to cross, Heaven attempts to block and the ball spins off his shin and beyond the helpless Lammens.

10 mins: Dorgu playing off the left, rather than the right and he has a chance here. Sesko finds the Dane darting in-field but his touch is too heavy on the edge of the Burnley box.

5 mins: Burnley venture forward with Hannibal finding Pires. His cross is really poor, though, with options in the middle.

Kickoff: 1st Half

We're underway. A punt downfield and one-time United goalkeeper Dubravka will have a goal kick.

5 mins: Here come the teams. The post-Amorim era starts here for Manchester United

30 mins before kickoff: So, Darren and Jonny are at the wheel tonight, But will it be Ole at the wheel again soon? Our man Kyle Bonn had a look at the last time Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was United's interim manager and it became a more permanent arrangement.

1 hr 5 mins before kickoff: Here's the Burnley side. Former United youngster Hannibal Mejbri is back and straight into the first XI following Tunisia's weekend exit from the Africa Cup of Nations. Lyle Foster is similarly back on the bench after South Africa's defeat to Cameroon on Sunday.

1 hr 15 mins before kickoff: The teams are in. Bruno Fernandes returns, as expected for United. Kobbie Mainoo, Harry Maguire and Mason Mount are all on the bench, alongside the caretaker manager's son Jack Fletcher. It looks like Fletcher Sr, will set United up in a 4-2-3-1, with Patrik Dorgu on the right wing.

1 hr 30 mins before kickoff: Jonny Evans joins Darren Fletcher as assistant in the visiting dugout at Turf Moor. Another former teammate, Ashley Young, has wished them well. Honestly, these past couple of days have started to feel a bit like the Stick To Football podcast has expanded into group therapy.

2 hours before kickoff: Fletcher told yeterday's pre-match press conference that he asked for Sir Alex Ferguson's "blessing" before taking temporary charge of United and said he runs all big decisions past his former boss. Hopefully this doesn't extend beyond football to where the Fletcher family should go on holiday or remortgaging the house.

Anyway, it's another demonstration of what plenty of people call "Manchester United DNA". This probably isn't the best basis upon which to go about apppointing an elite football coach, as discussed below.

2 hrs 30 mins before kickoff: Darren Fletcher will take charge of United as caretaker manager tonight. The plans is for United to appoint an interim until the end of the season, with Fletcher one of the names in the frame, before making a permanent appointment in the summer. Here's a breakdown of that situation, as it stands.

Mason Mount  and Bruno Fernandes  are each fit to return, although Fletcher pledged to manage the club captain's minutes carefully. Harry Maguire (thigh) is back in training and Kobbie Mainoo (calf) could also be involved after falling from favour under Amorim.
