One of the best home sides in the Premier League meets one of its worst away sides when Brentford host Newcastle at the Gtech Community Stadium today.

Keith Andrews has silenced the doubters thus far with his much-changed Bees side getting better by the week and proving formidable opponents on their own turf.

Defending champions Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa have been beaten with Man City the only side to come away from West London with three points.

Newcastle will be looking to become the second side to do so but it would a serious reversal of fortunes. Eddie Howe's men are yet to win on the road this season (three draws and two draws) and only bottom-placed managerless Wolves have fewer than their two away goals.

The Magpies' confusing season saw them follow up a dire 3-1 loss at West Ham with another fine win in the Champions League this week against Athletic Club - but this will be another huge test of their credentials. Will the Bees keep buzzing or can Newcastle end their away day blues?

AllSportsPeople brings you this betting preview complete with the latest tips, predictions and odds for a match kicking off just a few hours before the weekend's headline event, Man City vs. Liverpool.

Brentford vs. Newcastle preview: Who will win today?

Brentford have been hugely impressive at home under Andrews, following up on the work of Thomas Frank in making the Gtech one of the toughest away visits in the league.

They've also had a full week's rest while Newcastle's exertions in the Champions League also appear to be slowing them down in the league. Both of these factors, in addition to the Magpies' dire away form, tip it in the hosts' favour. We think a home win.

Brentford vs. Newcastle Score Prediction

We're tipping Brentford to take another big-name scalp at home but it will be tight.

Although Newcastle have not have yet won on the road this season, they have not lost heavily and been involved in three goalless draws.

Michael Kayode's long throw might be the deciding factor in a home win.

Prediction: Brentford 2-1 Newcastle (14/1 with Bet365)

Brentford Team News

  • Andrews will have the same squad to pick from that he had at Palace last weeked and is unlikely to make any changes to his now-established first choice XI.
  • Igor Thiago will lead the line, looking to add to three goals from his last three league appearances.

Newcastle Team News

  • Anthony Gordon was named in the England squad on Friday but is unlikely to start here following a recurrence of a hip issue in the win over Athletic.
  • Howe will also be without Will Osula as well as long-standing absentees Tino Livramento and Yoane Wissa, who misses out on a hostile return to the Gtech.

Brentford vs. Newcastle lineups: Predicted starting XI's

This is how we think these two sides will line up this afternoon with Brentford unchanged from last weekend and Newcastle bringing Harvey Barnes in for Gordon, nursing a hip injury despite being named in Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad this week.
