Brentford welcome Manchester United to the Gtech Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.

Brentford sit 17th with only one win from their opening five games, while United arrive in 11th and buoyed by a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over Chelsea that briefly lifted some of the pressure on boss Ruben Amorim.

United’s challenge has been inconsistencies this season, with Amorim side winning two and losing two in the first five games.

Their performance against Chelsea showed improvements with Bruno Fernandes orchestrating midfield and Casemiro scoring before his red card late in the first half brought an unwanted suspension that rules him out of the Brentford game.

Brentford have been relatively strong at home, where they have defeated Aston Villa and held Chelsea 2-2 in an energetic draw that reminded opponents of their resilience.

The Bees are unbeaten against United in the last three home games and the previous encounter in west London ended in 4-3 win for the hosts.

Brentford vs. Man United lineups: Predicted starting XI, team news, injury latest

Brentford head into their meeting with Manchester United in fairly good shape, with only two players doubtful for selection.

Edmond-Paris Maghoma is continuing his recovery from a hamstring issue with the midfielder still working on building match fitness before a possible return later this month.

Gustavo Nunes Fernandes Gomes is also missing after a thigh injury kept him out of pre-season, though he has resumed light training and is expected to be back in contention soon.

Aside from those absences, manager Keith Andrews has a near full squad to choose from and could keep faith with his 5-3-2 system.

Ethan Pinnock, Nathan Collins, and Sepp van den Berg should line up at the heart of defence, flanked by Kwaku Kayode and Matthew Lewis-Potter in the wing-back positions.

Jordan Henderson, Yegor Yarmoliuk and Mikkel Damsgaard will form the midfield trio, while Thiago Rodrigues could partner Kevin Schade in attack.

Brentford predicted starting XI (5-3-2, right to left): Kelleher (GK) — Kayode, van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Lewis-Potter — Yarmoliuk, Henderson, Damsgaard — Thiago, Schade

Injured: Maghoma (Thigh, doubt), Fernandes Gomes (Thigh, doubt)
Suspended: None

Manchester United head into the clash against Brentford without the services of Lisandro Martinez, who remains sidelined with a serious knee injury sustained in February.

Although the centre-back has stepped up his recovery and returned to light training, he is still some distance away from competitive action.

Diogo Dalot is also a minor concern after a muscular problem ruled him out against Manchester City and Chelsea, but the full-back has been back in training this week and could return to the squad.

Casemiro is suspended after his red card in last weekend’s victory over Chelsea and Ruben Amorim could call up Manuel Ugarte to deputise.

Otherwise, the Portuguese coach will have a fully fit squad, and the former Sporting CP coach will be tempted to select Matheus Cunha as one of his support attackers alongside ex-Brentford favourite Bryan Mbeumo. Cunha has returned from his hamstring issue and made a substitute appearance against Chelsea without suffering a setback.

In goal, Altay Bayindir should retain his place after impressing since stepping in, while Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, and Matthijs de Ligt should form the back three.

Man United predicted starting XI (3-4-2-1, right to left): Bayindir (GK) — De Ligt, Maguire,  Shaw — Amad, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu — Mbeumo, Cunha — Sesko

Injured: Martinez (knee), Dalot (other, doubt)
Suspended: Casemiro
