Kobbie Mainoo’s Manchester United future has entered a delicate phase as the young midfielder grows frustrated by limited opportunities under Ruben Amorim.

The 20-year-old from Stockport, once hailed as one of England’s brightest prospects, has managed just 190 minutes across all competitions this season.

His five appearances include four brief Premier League cameos and a single EFL Cup outing, none enough to show his influence in midfield.

Mainoo’s most active performance came in a match against Burnley in August when he substituted the injured Mason Mount at half-time.

Since then, he has got sporadic minutes against Chelsea, Manchester City and Brentford.

Amorim’s focus on experience has relegated mainoo to the edges of the squad, raising some questions about his place in the long-term project at Old Trafford.

Napoli revives interest in Manchester United star

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Napoli have revived their interest in Mainoo after monitoring his situation closely during the summer transfer window.

The Italian club held talks with his entourage in August as they view England international as a player capable of adding dynamism and control to their midfield.

Napoli had initially approached United when Mainoo requested to leave late in the window, but the club refused to sanction his exit.

Sources in Italy now believe the Serie A champions are preparing to return in January if Amorim’s stance remains unchanged.

Mainoo, desperate for regular playing time ahead of next year’s World Cup, is expected to reassess his future once the winter market opens.
