Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Altay Bayindir will remain between the posts for Sunday’s (September 14) Manchester derby, backing the Turkish goalkeeper to have a decisive impact.
Bayindir has started all three of Manchester United’s Premier League fixtures so far, though his early performances have divided opinion.
He came under scrutiny for goals conceded against Arsenal and Burnley, with United managing just one victory in that run along with a draw and a loss.
Despite the criticism, Amorim insists the 27-year-old retains his trust, selecting him ahead of deadline-day arrival Senne Lammens for the high-octane clash against Manchester City.
Why Bayindir will keep his place
Lammens joined United in the summer as part of an overhaul that also saw Andre Onana loaned to Trabzonspor following a difficult year at Old Trafford.

Many credible reports suggested that the Belgian would step straight into the lineup, but Amorim is sticking with Bayindir, stressing the importance of continuity.
The Portuguese also believes that Bayindir has the potential to have an impact like United legend Edwin van der Sar.
“This week I hope to see Altay Bayindir doing well like Van der Sar,” Amorim said.
“Then in the future, they have to fight for the places. We as a team can help the goalkeepers be better. We are doing that.”

Amorim also highlighted the need for stability at the club, referencing United’s storied past during Sir Alex Ferguson’s time in charge.
“We are building stability at the club to make new players better,” he said.
“If you go back into the past, this club had a really good base with Roy Keane, Gary Neville, all of these types of guys, but I remember world-class players like [Juan-Sebastian] Veron had problems.
“We had a situation in the past with goalkeepers where we spent a lot of time trying to get a goalkeeper, and then Edwin van der Sar came and was like a different player in that position.
“It's not something that is happening now. It's happening now because we cannot win a lot of titles, and that adds more pressure to every player, but we've had these kind of moments at this kind of club.
“We will try to build stability and a base to help all of these players, and we are building that. So in this moment, it's really hard for different players to adapt to this club.”
