Man Utd players spot worrying change behind the scenes image

Manchester United’s season has barely begun, but the storm clouds are already gathering over Old Trafford.

After just one win in five games, players are reportedly unsettled by how quickly the mood in the dressing room has shifted.

What looked like a promising campaign during pre-season now feels like a battle to stop the slide.

United lost at home to Arsenal on opening weekend, crashed 3-0 in the derby against Manchester City, and before that exited the League Cup on penalties to League Two side Grimsby Town.

For a squad that talked up ambitions in July, this rocky one month has apparently hit harder than expected.

Sources (via Manchester Evening News) close to the squad say the post-derby atmosphere was especially flat.

Players are said to have lamented a “missed opportunity” against City, who had lost their previous two league games. Instead of striking when the former champions looked vulnerable, United ended up second best all over the pitch.

It’s not just defeats that worry the squad. The goalkeeper situation has fueled debate, with Altay Bayindir making costly mistakes.

At the other end, big-money signing Benjamin Sesko is still searching for his first goal.

United have scored only once from open play in their last six hours of league football — not the kind of stat that wins fans or buys a coach more time.

Ruben Amorim under the microscope

Head coach Ruben Amorim is now facing sharper scrutiny. Since his appointment last November, United have managed just eight league wins in 31 attempts.

Only five of those came against current Premier League opponents. For context, that record puts United bottom of a 17-team chart of ever-present top-flight clubs during the same period.

The Portuguese boss insists he can turn things around, but confidence is thinning fast.

As United prepare to host Chelsea before trips to Brentford and a clash with Sunderland, the pressure is rising. Another slip and Amorim may be watching his job roll out of his own 3-4-3 formation.
