Manchester United’s summer business isn’t quite over — and one of their newest players already has a transfer tip for the club.

Bryan Mbeumo, who joined from Brentford for a reported £71 million, has spoken up about his former teammate Ollie Watkins. And he’s made it pretty clear where he stands.

Mbeumo and Watkins shared a strong connection at Brentford back in the 2019/20 season, combining for over 40 goals as they powered through the Championship.

Fast forward to today, and the idea of linking up again — this time at Old Trafford — clearly appeals to the new Red Devils winger.

United have been on the lookout for a proper No. 9 after underwhelming returns from both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Ollie Watkins, now a regular England international, is said to be on their transfer wishlist.

What Mbeumo said on Man Utd transfer target Ollie Watkins?

Speaking to The Mirror, Mbeumo said: “I think he's really complete. He's like a complete striker. He can do a lot of things. He can drop with the set or go in behind and I think this is really good for me or for a winger, because you can use his space to fit in there. And he can combine as well. So I think it's really good.”

That’s a glowing reference from someone who knows him well — and maybe a cheeky nudge to United’s board to seal the deal.

But the move won’t be easy. Reports suggest there’s a £20 million gap between United’s offer and Aston Villa’s asking price. United are reportedly hoping to pay around £40m, while Villa want closer to £60m.

Watkins turns 30 later this year, but with three years left on his deal, Villa are in no rush. Still, if United can offload one or two wingers, the finances could shift.

For now, the ball’s in United’s court — and Mbeumo seems more than ready for a reunion.
