Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is determined to bring in a new striker before the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The Portuguese coach has rejected calls to leave Old Trafford, as the Red Devils finished in their lowest-ever Premier League finish in 2024/25, and lost the UEFA Europa League final.

Amorim is preparing to offloading a host of big-earning first-team players with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho all on his exit list.

The quartet have been excused from the scheduled return for preseason to work on negotiations over their respective departures with Amorim's stance clearly set.

Amorim has already been busy in the transfer market, with a move to sign Brazil international Matheus Cunha, alongside a move for Paraguayan teenager Cerro Porteño.

However, amid frustration over signing another forward, Amorim is considering his options with Arsenal battling for Viktor Gyokeres.

Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo is also attracting interest from the red side of Manchester, but the Bees are standing firm over their talisman, with former boss Thomas Frank also plotting a move to bring him to Tottenham.

The drive to cut costs at Old Trafford, and avoid an expensive bidding war, means the club hierarchy have told Amorim to consider cheaper options - and former Everton centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin has now emerged on his radar as per Teamtalk.com.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Man United transfer latest, injury stats on England international

Calvert-Lewin's time at Goodison Park was dominated by injury issues with the England international struggling to maintain fitness over a consistent period on Merseyside.

His battles with injuries played a key role in Everton opting against a contract extension offer, with his previous deal expiring at the end of June, and there is a high level of risk associated with a move for the 28-year-old.

Calvert-Lewin's best stint at Everton came under Carlo Ancelotti, with 13 goals from 30 Premier League starts in 2019/20, followed by 16 from 32 in 2020/21, but those numbers have not been reached since.

He's managed just 17 top-flight goals in the following four seasons, as successive managers have failed to keep him fit, and United will demand huge assurances from their medical team that his injury issues are in the past.

With the concern attached to an offer - despite no transfer fee being involved - United will only propose a two-year contract with Calvert-Lewin's record of 84 games missed in the last four campaigns.
