Man United told 'third and final' asking price for No.1 transfer target image

Manchester United face a make-or-break scenario over a key summer transfer target.

The Red Devils have already secured a deal to bring in Brazil international Matheus Cunha and Paraguayan teenager Cerro Porteño, but Ruben Amorim wants more reinforcements.

The desperation for a fresh start comes on the back of United's worst-ever Premier League finish of 15th in 2024/25 and Amorim is planning a host of sales to raise funds.

The Portuguese coach is pushing to offload quartet Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho with all four players told they can leave Old Trafford if suitable offers arrive.

If Amorim is successful in securing multiple sales, he will be given the bulk of that cash to reinvest, with Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo still his No.1 target.

Mbeumo bagged 20 Premier League goals last season at Brentford, but Thomas Frank's departure to Tottenham has brought his future into doubt, with Spurs also linked to the Cameroon international.

However, Brentford are under a little pressure - with his current contract expiring in 2026 - but they have the option to extend that to 2027, if the club decide to do so.

Brentford set final demand on Bryan Mbeumo transfer

Despite his contract situation at the Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford are determined to bring in a maximum price for the 25-year-old, due to his importance to the squad.

New head coach Keith Andrews is keen to retain him and Brentford have reportedly already rejected two offers of £55m and £62.5m from United.

Reports from the Daily Mirror indicate Amorim and Andrews want a final decision on where Mbeumo will be playing next season before the start of August and that could force a resolution.

Brentford have informed the Red Devils hierarchy they will not accept less than £65m which remains with Amorim's reach.

The key issue could be over how the fee is paid, with United demanding an instalment plan to reach £65m, but Brentford are prepared to stand firm.
