Manchester United are planning changes in 2026 - regardless of Ruben Amorim's future.

The Portuguese coach remains under pressure at Old Trafford, despite a slight uptick in form ahead of the October international break, as the saga rolls on.

The club hierarchy have backed the former Sporting CP boss but results will ultimately decide his fate in the coming weeks in Manchester.

Alongside a decision on Amorim, the club must also make calls on the expiring contracts of several key players, including former captain Harry Maguire and top earner Casemiro.

Both players have been linked with mega-money moves to the Saudi Pro League when their United contracts expire next summer and United are openminded on retaining Maguire.

The situation is less clear on Casemiro with the Brazilian confirming his sole focus is on United and the 2026 FIIFA World Cup with Brazil.

The veteran midfielder has offered no update beyond that and United are looking to cut costs.

Casemiro Manchester United

Casemiro signed a four-year deal when he joined from Real Madrid in 2022, but as per the Daily Mail, United will only activate their clause to renew for another 12 months if he agrees to a pay reduction.

As per Capology, the 33-year-old currently earns around £350,000 per week, at the top of United's wage pyramid.

Details on how much United will look to reduce his wages by are unconfirmed, but they are expected to drop below the £200,000 mark, and less than current skipper Bruno Fernandes.
