Graham Potter has been linked with the Manchester United job in the past, but is remarkably still a contender to replace Ruben Amorim despite his sacking by West Ham United.

Potter was once regarded as a possible future England manager during his impressive stint at Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, his time at Chelsea and now West Ham have been disasters. A move abroad to rebuild his reputation would appear sensible, not taking over at arguably the biggest club in the Premier League

Fichajes has reported (translated from Spanish), "Manchester United's board has begun to evaluate possible replacements for Ruben Amorim. One of the candidates that has gained the most traction is Graham Potter."

It is a strange time to be following English football that the recently sacked West Ham manager is being linked with the Red Devils.

Could Graham Potter replace Ruben Amorim?

Potter took his time following his Chelsea sacking to wait for the right opportunity. However, West Ham was far from this.

If the opportunity to manage United comes up, then he would surely jump at the chance.

The pressure on Amorim is mounting after their 3-1 defeat to Brentford yesterday left United 14th in the Premier League.

Amorim has been criticised for sticking with his three at the back formation. Potter may have come up short at West Ham, but he can be flexible.

He played a back four and a back three with West Ham, whilst during his heyday at Brighton, he could seamlessly change formation during a game.

There is no obvious replacement for Amorim, so Potter may have as good a chance as any to replace the Portuguese coach.
