The Premier League’s case against Manchester City — the most high-profile disciplinary action in the competition’s history, involving 115 alleged breaches of its financial rules — shows no sign of nearing a conclusion.
Premier League CEO Richard Masters declined to offer any update on when a decision might be delivered.
A formal hearing concluded in December 2024, but the independent panel tasked with ruling on the charges has yet to publish its findings.
The Premier League insists the process is entirely independent, with Masters stressing that the panel alone controls the timetable.
“We all have to be patient,” Masters said this week when asked about the delays. “The panel runs the case and will deliver its verdict when it’s ready.”
The charges, first announced in February 2023 after a four-year investigation, relate to financial seasons spanning 2009 to 2018.

Allegations include failures to provide accurate financial information, breaches of UEFA regulations, and non-cooperation with the league’s investigation. City strongly deny all allegations.
Earlier this summer, the Premier League amended its handbook to require judicial panel members to devote sufficient time and effort to ensure cases are resolved efficiently.
Masters said the move was part of wider procedural improvements and “not linked to any particular case.”
The City matter is considered the most complex and fiercely contested in league history.
With the new season starting and no verdict in sight, the case continues to loom over English football.
