Manchester City cruised to victory in their opening game of FIFA Club World Cup with a 2-0 win over Wydad in Philadelphia.
The Premier League giants are looking to make a statement in the USA on the back of failing to win a trophy during the regular 2024/25 campaign.
Two of Pep Guardiola's brand new signings started - with Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki in midfield for City - but it was two longer-standing figures that made the key impact.
The contest was effectively wrapped up before the break, as Phil Foden scored inside the first two minutes and the England international's corner was then poked him by Jeremy Doku, to double their advantage before the break.
City showed flashes of their ability to power away after the restart - with Doku and Omar Marmoush denied - before Rodri and Erling Haaland were introduced late on off the bench.
The only low point for City was a red card for defender Rico Lewis in the dying minutes and match winner Foden is ready to make a splash in the United States.

What did Pep Guardiola say about Man City's win v Wydad?
Foden knows bigger tests lie ahead, but he is determined to put a poor start to 2025 behind him, ahead of 2025/26.
"We're very happy to start the tournament with a win. It was difficult at times with the heat, we're not used to it so we had to keep the ball a little more, and be patient," as per DAZN.
"Fair play to them [Wydad], They're a top team on the counter, created lots of chances that we had to deal with, but we're happy with the performance and three points.

"New season, fresh me! I want to keep training well and being the best version of me, hopefully I can perform like this every game."
Up next for Man City is a clash with Al Ain on June 23 in Atlanta before a showdown with Juventus on June 26 in Orlando.
